Grilled Cheese with Apples

This is a great Fall variation on a traditional grilled cheese sandwich. Tart, crisp apples will make this a great sandwich! For an extra kick, spread Dijon mustard on the bread before adding cheese.

2 slices whole wheat bread

1-ounce mild cheddar cheese

3 apple slices, granny smith apples

1 tablespoon butter spread


Heat griddle over medium-high. Spread each slice of bread with butter. Top one slice with half of the cheese then add apple slices before topping with the remaining cheese and adding a second slice of bread.  With butter facing out, cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
